Professor of Philosophy and President of Shenkar College. Former Minister of Immigration and Immigrant Absorption and Minister of Education. In her capacity as Minister of Education, initiated the “New Horizon” initiative – one of the widest reforms to be implemented in the Israeli education system for decades. In parallel, increased education budgets, added thousands of classrooms in peripheral regions, and promoted the implementation of a longer school day and an increased civil studies curriculum. Prof. Tamir earned a Ph.D in Political Philosophy from Oxford University, as well as an M.A in Political Sciences and a B.A in Biology, both from the Hebrew University in Jerusalem.
